The farm derives its charming name from the colony of water tortoises that was found on the land in the 1800’s. Skilpadvlei has been in the Joubert family for 4 generation and the farm house was built in 1917. Today 4th generation Willie Joubert upholds the proud family tradition of harnessing the rich potential of the land with dedicated commitment to quality.
Our unique range of wines are sold at our vinoteque on the farm, we have the following wines available: Skilpaddop Rosc , Skilpaddop dry white, Skilpaddop dry red,Skilpadvlei Sauvignon Blanc, Skilpadvlei Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz and our flagship M.L. Joubert Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot.
This versatile farm has it’s own restaurant that is open every day from 07:30 – 18:00, the restaurant serves traditional "boere" foods such as bobotie, chickenpie and lots more.With the nice view and atmosphere. Skilpadvlei is a great venue for any type of function or conference, this wine farm has the perfect setting for a wedding.
