Hermanus

Built along the shores of Walker Bay, Hermanus is only a 40-minute flight from Cape Town International Airport. Every year around July, locals eagerly await the arrival of their special guests of honour, the Southern Right Whale. This narrow coastal town is THE shore and air-based whale-watching destination. Silver Cross will fly you the scenic route to Hermanus for beer tasting at the famous brewery, lunch with a magnificent view or an aerial view of the whales. In fact, whatever your whim…

‘As one of South Africa’s most loved tourist destinations, Hermanus has managed to maintain its quaint and tranquil atmosphere. This gorgeous seaside town has a proud history dating back to the early 1800s and was named after Hermanus Pieters. In 1902, an irate postmaster complained about the town’s exceptionally long name and so, Hermanuspietersfontein became Hermanus. Doctors often recommended a trip to this seaside town for their patient’s health – a testimony to the healing powers of Hermanus.’
