Safety and Maintenance

Silvercross’s primary objective is asset protection, including protection of our clients assets. In order to ensure this, the following has been developed over the last two decades and is currently in place:

A Flight Safety Management System (FSMS) including:

  • Regular external flight safety audits which provides an independent, completely objective assessment of policies, procedures and operations.
  • An internal Quality assurance program which ensure compliance with our Standard Operating Procedures
  • A Hazard identification program and procedure to mitigate risks
  • An Incident reporting procedure.

Crew Training:  Our pilot’s training includes refresher courses to keep on top of new developments and up-to-date on safety procedures and methods. Safety training also includes annual CRM (Crew Resource Management) courses and intensive refresher courses for pilots. These involve a comprehensive course, covering potential dangers and the early identification of potential problems.

The aircraft is only as safe as the pilot flying it, so we make sure our pilots undergo intensive training and have thousands of flying hours. Silver Cross pilots are experienced and very highly regarded. We would highly recommend that our clients personal who will be working closely with the helicopter crew participate in the Crew Resource Management course which will improve communication and safety on site.

Performance analysis:  Before we accept your task we would carry out a comprehensive analysis of the mission that is to be accomplished and the environment in which we will be working to ensure the helicopter performance is suitable and that helicopter and crew will correctly equipped.

Task Risk Analysis:  Silvercross has a Task Risk Analysis which has been developed by various industry sources and refined by 20 years of field experience.   Risks will be identified and procedures will be put in place to mitigate these risks.

Safety Briefings:  Client crew will undergo a comprehensive orientation program covering the correct ‘modus operadi’ in the helicopter environment and will be an integral part of the Task Risk Analysis and risk mitigation program.

Emergency Response Plan:  Never say “it won’t happen to me”. Silvercross will establish an Emergency Response Plan that will provide support to all associated in the unlikely event of a mishap occurring.

Flight Tracking:  Each helicopter is fitted with a satellite tracking system which enables us to run real time flight tracking, and this will also be backed up by scheduled radio calls between the helicopter and ground crews.

Maintenance:

  • Silvercross Technical Staff are all experienced and licensed helicopter engineers trained by the helicopter manufacturer.   They have direct access to the best information and tooling available and only Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) spare parts.
  • Each helicopter is on a comprehensive “Power by the Hour” maintenance contract which ensures our helicopters are maintained to the best possible standards.
